How to unpair a tag

I want to associate my tag to my pet.  However, the tag is already paired, and the pairing process says there are no unpaired tags in the vicinity.  How do I tell pawscout that the tag is for a particular pet?

Everything was working fine until I removed and reinstalled the pawscout app on my android phone.
